The following position has become available within Whitewater Group of Companies. Whitewater West Industries, headquartered in Richmond, BC, is the largest and most experienced builder of waterparks and aquatic attractions in the world. We are a privately held company which has been in business since 1981 and employs over 400 people.
Division: Waterparks and Resorts | Reports to: Head of Engineering
Purpose
The Project – Structural Design Engineer provides structural analysis, design and related services from time of contract initiation through all phases of design development to final inspection and certification.
Essential Responsibilities
- Structural Design
- Perform analysis and design of structures (mainly in steel and reinforced concrete) using applicable building and design codes/standards (US and Canadian).
- Provide sketches and coordinate work with draftspersons during design development stage.
- Prepare technical specifications.
- Check design documents and working drawings.
- Services during construction:
- Assist site superintendents with technical issues as required.
- Review shop drawings.
- Develop design solutions and modifications when warranted by site conditions.
- Able to travel as necessary to meet project requirements (field reviews).
- Develop well rounded knowledge of Whitewater products and design / installation requirements.
- Set up and maintain project design calculations and records in the project binder.
- Contribute/assist in the development of teamwork to improve efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Structural Engineer with a background in design of steel and reinforced concrete.
- Registered Professional Engineer in Canada (P.Eng.) or US (P.E.).
- Minimum education requirement – Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Canadian university or foreign equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years experience related to structural design engineering.
- Excellent computer skills in development of 3-D and FE structural models.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office.
- Experience with computer programming would be an asset.

Completion of projects to the last detail is an important part of a successful project. Our company is looking to attract detail oriented skilled trades people who have proven hands on skills in managing construction in the field.
As the Site Supervisor you will manage the supervision and installation of our products through to completion. You are respected for your level of commitment, responsibility and ability to motivate workers. You are accustomed to working on busy jobsites with demanding schedules. Your proven communication and negotiation skills have enabled you to build on relationships and to accomplish your project goals.
You will have proven hands on construction trade skills as an up and coming or working Construction Supervisor, Construction Foreman or Lead Hand Tradesman with 5-10 years experience. You must be willing to travel extensively in North America as well as overseas.
