Adapting an Iconic Attraction to Hilly Terrain

August 26, 2024

Challenge:

How to incorporate the Boomerango wall into a slide considering a hilly terrain while avoiding disturbances to the natural environment.

Creative Solution:

The iconic Boomerango wall is a must for many large water parks around the world. However, it is usually the finishing feature of a ride. Boomerango Squeeze, with the slide path tapering to align the raft trajectory after it comes down from the wall, allows the attraction flexibility in height, as it is required for Ocean Park’s challenging landscape as the park is built in the hills facing the sea.

It also allows for the Boomerango wall to be built upstream. In this case, it is the first major feature of this ride. After riders experience a thrilling steep drop and the weightless sensation of the near-vertical wall, they continue the excitement with high-banking turns down two massive coiling Constrictors, one of which has a jagged top, giving the feeling of travelling through a spinning sawblade.
