Creator Q&A
Stefan Zwanzger
Creativity abounds in our industry. Every engineer, maintenance supervisor, programmer, and accountant who works in this industry brings their own creative flair to their respective roles.
One of those creative types, the “theme park guy”, Stefan Zwanzger, kindly took the time to answer our creativity Q&A. Stefan is the founder of Walalah LDA which operates the popular themeparX and resortX web portals.
WhiteWater: What does creativity mean to you?
Stefan: Coming up with something that you feel like didn’t come from you, but through you!
WhiteWater: What inspires you?
Stefan: Traveling. Ideally to very different places in quick succession. Do Seoul –> Tokyo –> Vladivostok –> Pyongyang or Sharm-El-Sheikh –> Eilat –> Aqaba –> NEOM.
WhiteWater: What kills creativity?
Stefan: Bureaucrats, worldwide. Bureaucratic procedures. Banking KYC. Customer service agents who are not empowered to take decisions and solve problems.
WhiteWater: What do you wish you’d created?
Stefan: I’m still young!!
WhiteWater: What did you create you are most proud of?
Stefan: Together with my team, two web portals (themeparX and resortX), from scratch, which are now visited by as many people as Disneyland.
WhiteWater: Of all the developments you’ve tracked in your career, what do you think the top 3 most creative attractions are?
Stefan: Here are my top three:
1. Falcon’s Flight roller coaster at Six Flags Qiddiya- 2. SlideWheel by Wiegand Maelzer, now WhiteWater
- 3. Pirates of the Caribbean at Shanghai Disneyland
