Waterpark estimators work in a fast paced environment assembling costs and estimates for projects during the sales and project budgeting phases. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for the following:
- Staffing and supervision of estimator group in consultation with the Director of Project Services.
- Reviews request for proposal (RFP) specifications, drawings and information provided by sales.
- Create estimates for Whitewater projects, using design drawings, sketches and or information that is available.
- Develops preliminary slide support and tower design concepts.
- Assist in the development of proposal documents.
- Assist sales in providing WAG and Budget on the spot estimates for possible future proposals.
- Ensures that estimates reflect current costs and that the costing database is kept up to date.
- Review of completed projects vs. the estimates for improvement of accuracy of future estimates
- Assigns RFP work to the various estimators.
- Reviews the work of all estimators to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- RFP’s and Estimates that are risky shall be escalated to the Risk Review Committee for consideration.
- Drafts scope of work and risk assessment documents.

- Tracks NCR, Perado and other Value Stream metrics, as required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Structural Engineer
- Performs analysis and design of structures using applicable building and design codes/standards (US and Canadian)
- Design will be in steel primarily and concrete secondarily
- Provides design sketches and coordinates work with draftspersons and other engineering departments during design development stage
- Provides effective management of internal and external working relationships with all levels in the organization
- Responsible for liaison with external consultants and drafting contractors for assigned projects
- Prepares technical specifications
- Checks design documents and working drawings
- Carries out site inspections as required
- Assists site superintendents with technical issues as required
- Reviews shop drawings. Responsible for developing design solutions and modifications when warranted by site condition
Other Responsibilities
- Contributing to the development of departmental teamwork and efforts to improve efficiency. Mentoring and assisting less experienced design and drafting staff, checking and providing feedback.
- Usage of Non-Compliance Reporting (NCR) / Opportunity for Improvement (OFI) procedures
- Continuous improvement of self and team
- Respect for people with communication, consideration and cooperation
- Responsible for safety, ensure best practices are followed
- Execute responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards
- Helping to define and align goals with departmental goals.
- Ensure regular performance feedback through formal performance reviews every 12 months in addition to probationary term reviews
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Structural Engineer with a background in steel and reinforced concrete design.
- Registered Professional Engineer in Canada (P.Eng.) or US (P.E.).
- Minimum of 8 years experience related to structural design engineering
- Minimum education requirement - Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Canadian university or foreign equivalent.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written - Proficiency in CAD drafting required; experience in SolidWorks an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

POSITION: Senior Project Manager
VALUE STREAM: Waterparks and Large Complexes
REPORTS TO: Division Manager, Waterparks and Large Complexes
PURPOSE:
The Senior Project Manager provides active management of projects within established schedules and budgets, typically from end of sales through design / engineering to manufacturing, installation, commissioning / certification and settlement of final accounts, and occasionally from sales proposal stage. This role will have projects in the Middle East and China so international / cross-cultural experience and/or additional language proficiency will be highly valuable.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Managing and overseeing multiple projects concurrently, focusing on on-time delivery, minimizing warranty claims through effective quality control, and maximizing margin through cost control and revenue enhancement.
- Managing and overseeing client relations.
- Preparing, analyzing, reviewing, approving, and managing the execution of project paperwork, including estimating, contracts, project schedules, budgets, invoices, applications for payment, change orders, cost reports, cash flow projections, purchase orders, subcontractor bid documentation, shipping documentation project close-out reports and other paperwork necessary to manage and document projects through their lifespan.
- Reviewing and managing internal engineering process and schedule to meet project specific needs.
- Usage of Non-Compliance Reporting (NCR) / Opportunity for Improvement (OFI) procedures
- Reviewing, coding and approving invoices from vendors.
- Managing the timely collection of revenue from clients.
- Managing all Procurement activities.
- Monitoring/managing the installation Field Construction Supervisor activities on the project job site.
- Acting as the prime point of contact and liaison between the client and Whitewater and its partners.
- Coordinate and manage the interdepartmental and intra-company project team to meet project goals.
- Updating the Business Unit Leader, VP of Construction and Sales Director on project variances from established schedules and budgets on a timely basis.
- Developing a well-rounded knowledge of products and installation requirements.
- Setting up and maintaining all project records in a project binder and digitally where possible and applicable.
- Completing project paperwork and liaising with various departments (engineering, shipping, manufacturing, etc).
- Lead one continuous improvement project per year
- Continuous improvement of self and team
- Respect for people with communication, consideration and cooperation
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in a Construction Project environment or equivalent training.
- Prior project management experience and/or related experience with construction management, large construction projects, structural steel, Aquatic Centres or Family Entertainment Centres is considered an asset.
- International / cross-cultural experience and/or additional language proficiency in Middle Eastern, Mandarin or Eastern European is considered a highly valuable asset
- Post Secondary education in a related field of study.
- The ability to read engineering drawings for general comprehension and take-offs is essential.
- Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel, SharePoint and MS Project; CAD software skills considered an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and have valid passport with ability to travel globally.
