America’s Tallest Water Slide, by WhiteWater, Opens at Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park

The Rise of Icarus, featuring the tallest water slide in the Americas, has opened for the 2024 summer season.

A collaboration between Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park, the architecture firm Ramaker, and WhiteWater, the Rise of Icarus is a 160-foot tall slide tower that launches four AquaTubes and a Freefall that, together with vibrant colours, retells the legend of Icarus in the most thrilling way. The tallest slide, a High-Speed AquaTube called, “The Fall,” has the rider plunging from the record-breaking height of 145 feet (44 m), through a length of 780 feet (237 m), at speeds of up to 30 mph (48 km/h).

“The Rise of Icarus holds a special place in our family and park as we continually strive to introduce new and innovative attractions to our area,” said Maria Laskaris, the park’s Social Media Marketer.

“Since The Rise of Icarus opened, we’ve been thrilled by the overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic reactions. Riders can’t get enough—they’re rushing back up the tower to experience all five body slides. Each slide is fast and exhilarating, definitely worth the wait and anticipation!” added Director of Marketing, Fofo Backhaus.

Below “The Fall,” four slides of varying lengths launch riders from a height of 57 feet (17 m).

“It’s always a pleasure to work with the Laskaris family, who has shown time and time again that Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park not only pushes boundaries with its attractions but also offers one-of-a-kind guest experiences to draw visitors to the region,” said Onno Meeter, President of Water Parks at WhiteWater.

A leading destination in Wisconsin Dells, Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park is no stranger to making headlines. Two years ago, it opened Medusa’s Slidewheel, the first rotating water slide in the Western Hemisphere.

Later this summer, the park will open a new outdoor kids’ area called, “Icaria Splash ‘n Slide,” also from WhiteWater, with 10 new slides, a host of aquatic play features, and Life Floor.
