WhiteWater Introduces Parallel Pursuit for True Side-by-Side Racing
Small footprint, tight budget, AND you want to add a marquee water slide attraction that’s unique too?
“No problem,” says the team at WhiteWater, the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of water parks. Introducing Parallel Pursuit, a racing water slide that offers an interactive dueling experience like never before.
Racing Redefined in a Heightened Shared Experience
“Racing water slides are a great way to encourage repeat ridership, combining skill and thrill as guests challenge others as well as themselves. Whether that’s to beat a friend or their own personal best, Parallel Pursuit has the added benefit of increasing a park’s dwell time,” says Paul Chutter, WhiteWater’s President and CCO.
Up until now, racing slides can typically be found in two forms. The first is the classic format of open and rolling slide paths that go straight down to the finish. The second type adds in separated enclosed flumes that twist and turn to create a thrilling ride experience.
“Parallel Pursuit’s innovation lies in its lower separating walls that allow riders to see each other, not just on straightaways but also on turns, in both open and enclosed sections,” continued Chutter.
These open and enclosed racing sections, can be linked by twisting enclosed AquaTubes, allowing for surprise lane switching, helping to up the excitement.
“From start tub to run-out lane, Parallel Pursuit has been designed for pure racing fun. Being able to see your friend as you race around a bend and hear their laughter echo in the slide is a unique experience for any ride,” added Chutter. Along with a differentiated flume profile, enclosed racing sections feature a translucent stripe down the side which bathes riders in a warm glow of light and enhances the atmosphere of the slide.
What Intense Side-by-Side Racing Is Like
Parallel Pursuit’s ride experience—height, ride position, thrill level, visual effects—depends on the configuration you decide on. Take “Twin Falls” at Nocatee Spray Park for example—the first installation of a Parallel Pursuit mat slide, built at the planned community of Nocatee, Florida. “It’s an intense face first ride that our residents love,” says Lee Hovis, Operations Manager of the Tolomato Community Development District in Nocatee, Florida.
Nocatee’s Parallel Pursuit is a diversified ride experience that transitions between competing interactively and speeding down separate tubes in suspense and back to interactivity. When the riders enter the enclosed section with low separating walls, they can see and hear each other like they are adventuring through a cave together. Opened in June 2021, Twin Falls has already “changed the whole dimension of the park,” according to Hovis. “The number of people using the facilities has increased,” he revealed. “It’s put us on a whole new level.”
The second WhiteWater project for Nocatee, Hovis has been pleased with the results, “This is our second slide tower that we’ve done with WhiteWater; working with them was pretty amazing. The good thing about WhiteWater is the professionalism that they have—the experience, the knowledge. Their team was here working with us, helping train our staff, making sure everything was just right, testing everything constantly, making sure it was safe, and giving us a great product.”
