Our Philosophy Toward Safety

At WhiteWater, safety is a critical part of our company values, and we have a dedicated committee that focuses on technical safety.

We embed safety throughout the life cycle of our products, from the design and build phases through to operations and maintenance.

For our clients, we provide comprehensive and timely technical support on any safety critical questions. We stand by our products for their entire lifetime and will not hesitate to help our clients with any documentation, training, inspection, refurbishment, and other support to keep the attractions running as they were designed.

Safety, of course, isn’t limited to just our company or our products. Industry-wide, we remain an active contributor on safety matters, all over the world.

Design and Build with Safety in Mind

For new water slides, the design starts with a ride path simulation. Using our proprietary software, we ensure that our slides balance thrills with safe ride operations before manufacturing. At product inception, we perform a thorough risk analysis. As well, we conduct regular reviews on product revisions.

As fiberglass is at the core of many of our attractions, we have a dedicated department called Composites Manufacturing and Engineering, with specialists and engineers that work on the durability of our products and perform stress tests on the material. All of WhiteWater’s composites can be configured to meet global as well as region-specific standards.

During build, WhiteWater supervises the installation on site with very highly experienced install advisors. Following stringent work safety protocols, they ensure every piece is properly in place.

Our thorough commissioning process has been developed over decades, with knowledgeable site supervisors carrying out the testing. Dozens and dozens of test runs explore the operational limits to safely operate the slides. This process sets the rider weight limits and water flow rates, validates the ride vehicles if applicable, and specifies the attendant needs for each ride. Details regarding proper operations and maintenance are found in each product’s O&M manual.

Depending on the type of product and region, WhiteWater follows the standards set by ASTM, EN, GB, AWS, CWB, CSA, IBC, and NFPA and works with organizations such as TÜV, CSEI, DOSH, and AIMS.

Partnership in Safety

To create a fun play area that also gives parents and children piece of mind, WhiteWater has partnered with Life Floor to provide the only certified aquatic safety flooring material that meets the National Safety Federation (USA) standards. These foam rubber tiles are proven to reduce slips and falls by 90% and significantly lower the risk of injury.

Championing Safety in the Industry

WhiteWater has several active members on industry safety committees and contributes to the development of new standards and improvement of existing ones. We currently hold four leadership positions in ASTM F24 Committee on Amusement Rides and Devices and its subcommittees. Since 2014, WhiteWater has been a proud sponsor of the ASTM F24 twice-annual meetings.

In addition, we hold memberships in organizations that champion safety in the attractions industry, such as IAAPA, WWA, TEA, IAAPI, NEAPPA, AZA, VDFU, and CSEI.
